Cape Gentleman Grand National Odds & Betting Profile

Cape Gentleman is a seven-year-old trained by Shark Hanlon and is set to be a huge price to win the 2023 Grand National, which takes place at Aintree racecourse on Saturday 15th April at 17:15. We profile the Irish-trained raider by looking at his career form, statistics, pedigree ahead of the world's greatest steeplechase...

Age: 7

Trainer: Shark Hanlon

Chase Runs: 8

Chase Wins: 2

A classy winner of the Grade 2 Dovecote Novices' Hurdle at Kempton Park back in 2021 propelled Cape Gentleman into the limelight while under the stewardship of Emmet Mullins, but the seven-year-old has struggled to kick on from that and now runs for Shark Hanlon, who will be bidding for his first win in the Grand National.

Ninth in the Galway Plate way back in July, Cape Gentleman has been kept busy over the last nine months and returned to the Flat after that Galway run and was a winner at Killarney. However, he's struggled over obstacles in recent times as having lost at Ballinrobe when heavily odds-on he was then a faller in the Kerry National at Listowel.

Unable to land a blow in a brace of runs over hurdles at Thurles and Leopardstown, Cape Gentleman continued to find it difficult in the National Hunt sphere and he was last seen finishing a distant fourth behind Velvet Elvis in a Fairyhouse chase contest, and with that rival set to take him on again then Hanlon's raider is entitled to be a huge price for Grand National glory.

Noble Yeats may have broken the seven-year-old hoodoo last year, but Cape Gentleman will need to bounce back to top form with aplomb and even then he will find this level tough and is entitled to be a hugely price in the Grand National Odds for what looks a superb renewal.
