Cardinals Sign C Willson Contreras
The Cardinals have signed Willson Contreras. He produced 3.3 fWAR in 487 PAs last season. The contract is not yet out, but it's likely to be 5 years and around $100M. The Cardinals are transitioning away from the model they had with Yadier Molina. They want a 100/60 split between Contrras and Knizner.
The Cardinals and the Astros have offered Contreras a 5-year contract worth $87.5M spread over 5 years. The current Cardinals payroll is $182.7M.
