Law: As Blue Jays send Moreno, Gurriel to Diamondbacks for Varsho, did both sides win?
Daulton Varsho was traded from Arizona to Toronto for Gabriel Moreno and Lourdes Gurriel. Moreno is a plus runner and athlete who was way above league average in center field and right field last year. Gurriel hit 27 home runs last season but his strikeout rate was high. He underwent surgery after the season to address a broken hamate bone. He's a free agent after 2023. The Diamondbacks could trade center fielder Alek Thomas. They could also trade left-fielder Aleks Thomas, who's below-average. It might be two or three years before Moreno gets to his 4-5 WAR ceiling.
