CFB Strength Ratings update: Georgia takes top spot in 3 categories

Georgia is the top team in three of the strength ratings following its win at Mississippi State. TCU strengthened its hold on the final CFP spot with a 17-10 win against Texas.

Georgia and Ohio State were the top two teams in my power ratings. Georgia beat Mississippi State 26-16. Alabama is third in the PRs. Four of the CFP contenders face road tests this weekend. Michigan is the only one at home, hosting Illinois.

Kansas State is 7-3 and 5-2 in the Big 12. The latest win was 31- 3 at Baylor.

Florida State has won their last two games. They have outscored their opponents 83-6. Their most recent win was 38-3 at Syracuse. Two home non-ACC games against Louisiana and Florida are left.

The point spread for TCU-Texas game is 3 points. TCU is 10-0 and will play for the Big 12 title. The defense held Texas to 199 yards.

Boise State is unbeaten in the Mountain West and is favored to beat Wyoming this weekend. BSU is coming off its best offensive performance of the season, when it put up 571 yards in a 41-3 win over Nevada.

Miami of Ohio is a 3-point underdog against Ohio. The Redhawks lost to Ohio last week 37-21.

Kansas State beat Baylor 31-3 on Saturday. Baylor lost to the team that they used to play very well at home.

Georgia takes top spot in 3 categories. UCLA is down to 3rd place after losing to Arizona.

Kentucky is 2-4 and has failed to score more than 27 points in last four games. Quarterback Will Levis has not played well for the team lately. The team has averaged just 125.7 passing YPG in the last three games and is 6-6.

Georgia has the highest Effective Strength Ratings (ESR) of any team. Georgia is 2.1 points better than Ohio State and 4.5 points ahead of Alabama. Florida International is the worst team in FBS football. Florida State is also on the ESR list. The Mountain West occupies four of the bottom nine spots in the ratings. It's more than 64 points worse than Georgia.

Bettors Ratings are the only performance indicators that don't show Georgia on top. Ohio State's BR is 1.8 points better than Georgia's. Alabama is No. 3 at -43. 8, a full 6.6 points higher than No 4 Michigan. Syracuse, Arkansas State, Stanford and Old Dominion are four teams whose BR rank is at least 20 spots higher. Western Kentucky, Florida, Ohio and Florida Atlantic are also underrated.

Georgia is the most recent college football team to have the highest Recent Ratings. Florida State, Michigan, LSU, Ohio State and Temple are also playing well. Stanford is playing poorly. The team playing the worst is struggling Oklahoma State. The teams at the bottom are FIU, Rice, New Mexico and Hawaii.

Schedule Strength Ratings reflect the difficulty of each team's 2022 schedule. Auburn has played the most difficult schedule, followed by Indiana, Colorado, Texas and Alabama. New Mexico State has the easiest schedule with an opponent power rating of 24.64. Minnesota is the Power 5 team with the least difficult slate.

After watching South Dakota State play well on Saturday, I bumped the Jackrabbits up to a 42.5 Power Rating. There are four other teams rated at 40 or higher. Montana, Incarnate Word, Sacramento State and North Dakota are the best teams. Eastern Washington and South Dakotas have played the toughest schedules.
