Chevron Championship 2023: Tee Times, Dates, TV Schedule, LPGA Prize Money

The LPGA Tour's Chevron Championship makes its return this weekend, and changes are on the horizon.

Traditionally the first major of the LPGA season, the Chevron Championship (previously the ANA Inspiration) has been played at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California since its inception in 1972. However, the storied run at Mission Hills comes to an end this year, as the event moves to the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods in Woodlands Texas.

While the venue will be different, the tournament is still the first major of the 2023 season. Bragging rights and a large share of the $5.1 million prize purse will be on the line starting on Thursday.

Here's everything you need to know about the 2023 Chevron Championship.

Jennifer Kupcho won her first major at this event in 2022. She'll look to become the first back-to-back winner since Annika Sorenstam won in 2001 and 2002. Repeating won't be easy, however, as the LPGA just hasn't seen repeat major winners recently.

As was the case in 2021, each of the five 2022 majors was won by a different golfer. Minjee Lee is the only competitor to win two majors over the last two years, claiming the 2021 Evian Championship and the 2022 U.S. Women's Open.

Kupcho and 2021 winner Patty Tavatanakit will be ones to watch in this year's tournament, though neither is among the early Vegas favorites.

Lydia Ko tops the favorites list, which isn't a surprise. She's ranked No. 1 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings and won the event back in 2016. While that was Ko's last major win, she finished in the top 10 at the U.S. Women's Open, the AIG Women's Open and the Evian last year.

Nelly Korda is also at the top of the favorites list. She missed last year's event because of a blood clot but returned to win the Pelican Women's Championship in November and has four top-six finishes already this year.

Georgia Hall might be the best bet to win as she's played both well and consistently so far this season. She has two second-place finishes, four top-10 finishes and hasn't finished lower than 14th (tied) in five starts.

"I've never been this comfortable, I think, before a major," Hall told reporters.

Also keep an eye on Atthaya Thitikul, who just turned pro in 2020. Thitikul rose to prominence quickly and finished in the top 10 of her last three majors. She has 10 top-10 finishes in her last 11 starts.

It's an immensely talented field, and it should make for an entertaining weekend of golf.
