The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off Tuesday’s 4-1 defeat at the Edmonton Oilers. It was their second loss in a row and the sixth in their last eight outings at any location. The Blackhawks are now sitting bottom of the Central Division with the worst record in the NHL.

Chicago took an early lead at Rogers Place in Edmonton thanks to Connor Bedard’s 12th goal of the season. But the Oilers turned the game on its head by the end of the first period and never looked back. Edmonton outshot Chicago 29-23, and the Blackhawks went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

The Blackhawks are 31st in the league in goals for (2.36 per game) and 27th in goals against (3.46). Petr Mrazek, who yielded four goals on 29 shots last Tuesday, is 7-9-0 with a 3.09 GAA and a .909 save percentage this season, while Arvid Soderblom has gone 2-9-1 with a 3.66 GAA and a .882 save percentage.

The Seattle Kraken put an end to their eight-game losing streak last Tuesday. Playing as +150 home underdogs, the Kraken blanked the Florida Panthers 4-0. Four different players found the back of the net for Seattle including Eeli Tolvanen, who scored an empty-netter to increase his season tally to 19 points (G7, A12).

Kailer Yamamoto broke the deadlock against the Panthers and also had an assist. Seattle was outshot by Florida 24-23, and the Kraken went 0-for-1 with the man advantage while killing all of Florida’s three power-play opportunities.

Joey Daccord recorded his first NHL shutout last Tuesday, improving to 4-5-6 on the season. He holds a 2.73 GAA and a .902 save percentage, while Philipp Grubauer, who was placed on the IR on Monday, is 5-9-1 with a 3.25 GAA and a .884 SV%. Chris Driedger will serve as a backup on Thursday and wait for his season debut. Seattle is 19th in the league in goals against (3.27) and 29th in goals for (2.57).

Insiders Status:

I can only look at the under when it comes to the totals. As I’ve mentioned above, the Blackhawks have been awful on the road of late. On the other side, the Kraken have scored more than two goals just twice over their last six games overall.

The total has gone under in four of Seattle’s previous six outings and four of its last five home contests. Also, the under is 5-2 in Chicago’s last seven games overall and 5-1 in its previous six dates with the conference rivals.

Prediction: Go under 6.0 goals (+104)
