The Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs meet Tuesday in MLB action from Wrigley Field. This will be the third installment in a four-game series. In the Monday doubleheader, the Brewers managed to win both matchups. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Milwaukee played the Cardinals over the weekend and managed a split in four games. In the Monday matchups versus the Cubs, the Brewers eked out a 7-6 victory in game one. In the nightcap, Milwaukee took another win 3-1 on just three team hits.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game, the Brewers will go with Eric Lauer. In his eight starts so far Lauer is 5-1 with a 2.31 ERA. Over 46.2 innings of work Lauer has 35 hits, 12 earned, 12 walks and 55 Ks.

Over on the Cubs’ side, they played a couple versus the White Sox this weekend and managed a split. On Monday in the doubleheader, Chicago had 12 team hits in a tough game one defeat. In the nightcap, the Cubs weren’t able to score outside of the fourth inning.

Justin Steele will take the mound for the Cubs on Tuesday. Across his nine starts Steele is 1-5 with a 5.40 ERA. In 35.0 innings he’s posted 37 hits, 21 earned, 19 walks and 40 Ks.

The Brewers are 6-1 in their last seven Tuesday games and 15-5 in their last 20 versus the NL Central. Milwaukee is 5-12 in their last 17 versus a lefty starter.

Meanwhile, the Cubs are 12-25 in their last 37 in game three of a series and 15-39 in their last 54 at home. Chicago is 1-4 in their last five at home versus a lefty starter.

PICK: I’m staying with the Brewers here. Lauer has looked good over his last two starts. In that span he’s 2-0 with just two earned in 12.0 innings on nine hits and four walks. As for Steele, he had a rough loss in Cincinnati his last time up (2.0 innings; seven earned) but had a couple of nice starts prior to that. Overall this is probably the Brewers’ game to lose, though.
