The Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Friday in MLB action from American Family Field. Cincinnati is coming off a series versus the Cubs. After a split in the first two games, in the Thursday rubber match the Reds eked out a victory. As for Milwaukee, they played the Giants in a doubleheader Thursday. In those matchups the Brewers took the first installment, then in game two Milwaukee bagged another victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cincinnati took a 7-1 win over the Cubs in the Wednesday matchup, but lost the opener 9-3. In the Thursday finale, the Reds fought back from a 2-0 deficit for a 4-3 victory. Luis Cessa managed 5.2 frames in the start with two earned on three hits and eight Ks.

Starter for the Friday game will be Cincinnati’s Nick Lodolo. Over his 14 starts so far Lodolo is 3-5 with a 3.95 ERA. In 73.0 innings total he has 32 earned on 70 hits and 30 walks with 91 Ks.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they played a pair of games versus the Giants Thursday. In those matchups Milwaukee managed a 2-1 victory in game one on three team hits. In the nightcap the Brewers posted three runs in the first inning during a 4-2 win.

As starter for the Friday game, Milwaukee is sending out Jason Alexander. Over his 16 games (nine starts) so far, Alexander is 2-2 with a 5.03 ERA. In 62.2 innings overall he has 35 earned, 73 hits, 26 walks and 37 Ks.

The Reds are 2-8 in the last 10 in game one of a series and 14-38 in their last 52 road games versus a team with a winning record. The under is 19-9-1 in Cincinnati’s last 29 in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 0-4 in their last four Friday games and the under is 5-1 in their last six Friday games.

PICK: I’m going to try the Reds in this one. Lodolo posted four earned on three hits and two walks in 5.1 innings versus Philly a couple of starts back, but he’s been better since then. In his last pair of outings Lodolo has just three earned in a combined 13.0 innings on seven hits and two walks. He’s just 0-1 in that time however, so Lodolo will need some help from the Reds bats. If he can get it, Cincinnati should be set up well.
