Chris Sutton makes score prediction for Southampton vs Wolves

Wolves are facing Southampton this weekend, and it’s a fantastic chance to pull further away from the relegation zone – and Chris Sutton has made his score prediction for the Premier League clash.

Last weekend’s 3-0 win over Liverpool was the club’s best result of the season so far.

Wanderers blew the Reds away at Molineux, combining fantastic flowing football and solid defending.

That result lifted Wolves to 15th in the table and onto 20 points.

It’s still very tight down at the bottom of the league table though. 18th-placed Everton are on 18 points, meaning Wolves must continue to push.

Southampton are in shocking form at the moment.

The appointment of Nathan Jones back in November has not resulted in the turnaround the Saints board would have hoped for.

This week, there have been reports that some senior players are doubting Jones, and feel he is ‘too emotional’ following some odd comments he made at a recent press conference.

Undoubtedly, it’s a brilliant opportunity for three more points for Wolves. And pundit Chris Sutton believes Lopetegui will mastermind another win.

Predicting a 1-0 win for Wolves, Sutton said (BBC Sport): “Southampton have got the worst home record in the Premier League this season, after taking six points out of a possible 30 so far.

“So, Jones desperately needs a result and a performance to turn things around and maybe he will get it, the same way he got one against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup last month.

“I don’t see it though. Wolves have got much better under Julen Lopetegui and we saw with their win over Liverpool last week that they are playing with confidence.

“If they go in front, the atmosphere could turn toxic.”

Anything but a win against Southampton isn’t good enough for Wolves, as Chris Sutton makes score prediction

There is no better opponent to be facing after getting three huge points against Liverpool than Southampton.

They’re seriously struggling at the moment. And it seems all is not particularly well behind the scenes with Jones and some players.

This is therefore a really big chance for Wolves and they have to take it.

Confidence should be very high after last weekend. But it’s important to also approach the task with humility.

Southampton may be bottom of the league, but it could still be a tough scrap.
