Cincinnati Bengals Betting Lines: Preview, Odds, Spreads, Win Total, and More

The Cincinnati Bengals head into 2023 as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl, and for good reason. The Bengals not only have top-end talent at premium positions, but they still have a number of key pieces on rookie contracts. As good as they’ve been in winning back-to-back division titles and going to consecutive AFC Championship Games, this is Cincinnati’s best roster yet.

Cincinnati Bengals Offense

Continuity is king in the NFL. And the Bengals have more of it than any team in the league, with head coach and play-caller Zac Taylor and offensive coordinator Brian Callahan entering their fifth year together in Cincinnati, the last four of which have been with Joe Burrow.

In addition to having one of the favorites to win MVP at quarterback, the Bengals boast one of, if not the best, starting wide receiver trio and, after years of experimentation, a legitimate offensive line.

After switching to the downhill, shotgun run scheme in Week 6, the Bengals won 12 out of 13 games, including 10 in a row, before falling on a last-second field goal in the AFC Championship Game.

Adding left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. and pairing rookie running back Chase Brown with Joe Mixon should make Cincinnati a more balanced and dangerous offense in 2023.

Cincinnati Bengals Defense

Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo — who is also entering a fifth consecutive season in his role — has earned a reputation for being one of the best game-planners in the NFL, and the defense is loaded with young talent he can mix and match.

The last seven premium draft picks (Rounds 1-3) have been on the defensive side of the ball. The pass rush was lacking last year, but the addition of 2023 first-round pick Myles Murphy and the emergence of Joseph Ossai should add some juice to a defensive front that already counts two players who are among the best in the league at their position — edge rusher Trey Hendrickson and defensive tackle DJ Reader.

What the secondary lacks in experience following the departures of safeties Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell, it makes up for in raw speed, with cornerback emerging as the most competitive position on the team through the first two weeks of camp.

Last year, the Bengals ranked 29th with 30 sacks and 18th with 13 interceptions. If you can find futures lines on those stats that are similar, take the over.

One Betting Trend To Know

Over the past two seasons, the Bengals are 13-4 against the spread on the road (76.5%), easily the highest cover rate in the league (no other team has covered more than 71% of the time on the road during that time).

Best Bet for the Bengals in 2023

Morrison: Tyler Boyd has averaged 901 receiving yards in his five years as a starter. And while his production has dipped slightly since sharing the field with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins the last two seasons, he still put up 828 yards in 2021 and 762 last year.

That 762 number is nearly 100 yards more than his over/under total of 675.5 this season. I love the over on this prop bet.

Yes, the Bengals drafted Charlie Jones to be Boyd’s eventual successor in the slot, but that’s more of a 2024 plan. Don’t look for Boyd’s snap counts or targets to be affected much this season.

And even in the worst-case scenario, where Burrow suffers a setback with the calf strain and misses more time, backup quarterbacks tend to lean on their slot receivers, and Boyd is one of the best in the game. Plus, he’s still only 28.
