Clemson Football: Oppo Research

NC State and Clemson are both undefeated in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Last week, Clemson beat Wake Forest, but the defense was not as good as it should have been. This week's game pits the #1 team against the No. 2 team.

Dave Doeren's NC State Wolfpack is not looked at fondly by Clemson fans. Doerer led the Pack to a double-OT win a season ago.

Tim Beck is the offensive coordinator at North Carolina State. The Wolfpack is 4-0 on the season. They've beaten East Carolina (21-20), Charleston Southern (55-3), Texas Tech (27-14), and UConn (41-10).

Devin Leary is the projected starter on Offense. He is a pro-style quarterback with minimal turnovers. Demie Sumo-Karngbaye and Justin Houston are good running backs. Thayer Thomas and Devin Carter are the top receivers. The offensive line is experienced, led by Chandler Zavala, Grant Gibson and Timothy McKay. Anthony Belton and Dylan McMahon are expected to start at the Left Tackle and Right Guard positions. Doeren and Beck are known to throw in trick plays or two. They have at least one flea-flicker in the last three games versus the Tigers.

Tony Gibson is the defensive coordinator at NC State. Gibson has been at Michigan, Pitt, Arizona and West Virginia before NC St.

Clemson is preparing for the game against NC State. The defense is expected to be very good. NC St. is the 13th ranked defense in the nation. They have 9 takeaways on the season with 7 interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Shane McDonough, Chris Dunn, Thayer Thomas and Julian Gray are projected starters on Special Teams.

Clemson football takes on the undefeated North Carolina State Wolfpack in Death Valley on Saturday night. The weather is expected to be dry. With these two defenses, scoring should be at a premium.
