Coastal and Mountaineers to Meet Thursday Night on ESPN

Coastal Carolina football team will play Appalachian State Mountaineers on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN and carried on the radio at WRNN Hot Talk 99.5 FM. All reserved and single-game tickets for Thursday night's home contest are sold out. Reserved Gameday Parking is also sold.

Coastal Carolina football team is celebrating 20 seasons this year. The team kicked off its inaugural season in 2003. Almost 8,000 fans packed Brooks Stadium for the inaugural game on Sept. 6, 2003, when CCU used a 97-yard drive to score with seven seconds to play to defeat Newberry 21-14. CCUC received votes in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll this week.

Coastal Carolina and App State are playing on Thursday night on ESPN. The Mountaineers are 5-3 overall and 2-2 in Sun Belt Conference this season. They have won each of their last two games at home. App state's offense is averaging 36.9 points and 459.6 offensive yards per game. Their defense is one of the best in the Sun Bowl this year, allowing just 308.5 yards of offense per match.

Coastal and Mountaineers to meet on ESPN on Thursday night. Coastal is 1-7 all-time against App State, with the lone win coming at Brooks Stadium in 2020. The two teams met three times as FCS foes from 2005-12, before becoming Sun Belt Conference rivals in 2017.

The Chanticleers are 29-4 since the start of the 2020 season. The Chants are 7-1 this season and have the third-best record in all of FBS football behind only Alabama and the defending 2021 National Champions Georgia Bulldogs.

Coastal Carolina was originally scheduled to play two games on Thursday Night Prime Time on the ESPN family of networks at the beginning of the season.

Coastal Carolina's game at Georgia State was moved from ESPNU to ESPN2 on Monday, Sept. 19. The Chanticleers' home game against Old Dominion on Saturday, Oct. 15 will be broadcast on ESPN. Coastal's home match against Marshall on Oct 29 will also be televised on NFL Network. CCU's Nov. 12 home contest will air live on the ESPNu.

The Chanticleers have had 20 games nationally televised since the start of the 2020 season. The Chants are 16-3 overall. Their last loss was at Appalachian State (Oct. 20, 2021) last year in Boone, N.C.
