College Football 2023 Week 5 Odds, TV Matchups & Top 25 Betting Report

There are more changes in the college football AP Top 25 rankings this week after Ohio State topped Notre Dame 17-14 on a final play touchdown. That dropped the Irish out of the top 10, and college football’s most talked about and bet on team Colorado fell out of the Top 25 after Oregon put a stampede of their own over the Buffaloes, 42-6.

There are four Top 25 matchups this week starting with another big Pac-12 contest Friday night between No. 10 Utah and No. 19 Oregon State. The Utes held off UCLA last week at home 14-7 as defenses dominated play while Oregon State lost at Washington State 38-35 in a shootout. Six Pac-12 teams are in this week’s AP Top 25 after Colorado and UCLA dropped out, and seven SEC teams are in the Top 25 to lead all conferences. The Big Ten has three of the top six teams in this week’s Top 25 poll.

While Iowa also dropped out of the Top 25 this week, the rising star out of the Mountain West is Fresno State. The Bulldogs enter the Top 25 and currently have the nation’s second-longest winning streak at 13 games. Head coach Jeff Tedford continues to be one of the unheralded coaches in college football. After 11 years at Cal with seven straight bowl appearances and leaving as the winningest coach in program history with 82 wins, he continues to get the best out of the players at his alma mater, Fresno State.

The Bulldogs have won 10 games the last two seasons including a pair of bowl wins. After taking over a 1-11 team in 2017, Tedford led Fresno State to 10 and 12 wins his first two seasons. He stepped away from coaching following the 2019 season due to health concerns. His second stint has brought more winning seasons. Under Tedford, Fresno State has won three West Division titles, two Mountain West Championships and three Bowl Game victories. The Bulldogs have finished in the AP Top 25 twice, and have moved in again with the conference opener at home vs Nevada an opportunity to move to 5-0 this season.

Fresno State is No. 2 in Group of 5 attendance, and expect nearly 40,000 fans again to be at the game against Nevada led by the student section.
