College Football Conference Championship Odds, Predictions & Best Bets To Back Today

It's time for the best slate of the calendar year. Conference Championship week has arrived. 

There's plenty left to sort out with eight legitimate College Football Playoff contenders remaining for just four spots. That includes both No. 1 Georgia and No. 8 Alabama ahead of the SEC title game, where the Bulldogs are a -5 favorite over the Tide. 

We also have an epic rematch on tap in the Pac-12, where unbeaten Washington is a +9.5 underdog against an Oregon team it already beat once in the regular season.

Those are a few of the biggest games in a decisive weekend before the bowls are announced, with nonstop action on and entering Week 14.

Pac-12 Championship Game

Oregon (-9.5) vs. Washington

We’ve got a Friday night rematch in Las Vegas to kickoff conference championship week, with 11-1 Oregon taking on 12-0 Washington for the Pac-12 title and a shot at the College Football Playoff. The Huskies are certainly in with a victory. The Ducks would also have a great chance with a win, especially if Texas or Florida State is upset over the weekend. 

The Huskies took the first meeting in one of the best games of the year, a 36-33 thriller in Seattle. But the offense has slowed down since and the Ducks are now significant favorites having played their best ball over the last month. 

Washington continues to survive the close calls, with four one-score wins since the Oct. 14 Oregon game. The Ducks have just been steamrolling opponents. We’ll see if they can avenge the lone blemish on the schedule and make the selection committee sweat with a third conference championship in five years. 

Best Bet:

Big 12 Championship Game 

Oklahoma vs. Texas (-14)

The Longhorns secured their spot in the Big 12 title game with style points. Last week’s 57-7 win over Texas Tech sent a clear message that Texas is still a legitimate CFP contender. Oddsmakers like them to make another strong argument in Arlington, where the Longhorns are two-touchdown favorites against Oklahoma State. 

The Cowboys nearly blew this opportunity in spectacular fashion, eventually surviving a double-overtime win over a bad BYU team. But they’re here now and that’s all that matters. These are two evenly-matched offenses, but the Longhorns are far superior on the defensive side and they haven’t blinked since a tough 34-30 loss to Oklahoma. 

Now they have a great chance to win the Big 12 for the first time since 2009 and potentially sneak into the CFP before starting a new era next year in the SEC.

SEC Championship Game

Georgia (-5) vs. Alabama

Georgia has now won 29 straight games on its chase for a third consecutive national championship. But the Bulldogs will have to do something they’ve never done before to ensure a spot in the CFP – beat Alabama in the SEC title game. 

The Tide bullied Georgia, 41-24, two years ago before the Bulldogs redeemed themselves a month later with a win over Alabama in the national championship. Oddsmakers have Georgia as a small favorite for this one at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where Alabama is an underdog for the first time all season. 

This should be another classic as Nick Saban and the Tide look to prove they haven’t fallen off one bit after running the table in the SEC.  

Best Bet:

Big Ten Championship Game 

Michigan (-23) vs. Iowa

Nothing screams divisional imbalance like a three-touchdown point spread in the conference championship. Such is life in the Big Ten, with Michigan looking to make it 11 straight wins for the East before the conference eliminates divisions and welcomes four new members in 2024. 

The Wolverines answered all the criticism and allegations with a third straight win over Ohio State, and coach Jim Harbaugh will be back on the sidelines in Indianapolis after serving a three-game suspension for the sign-stealing scandal that’s unfolded in Ann Arbor. Michigan certainly looks like the total package once again and will be on to the CFP with a win over the Hawkeyes. Iowa, meanwhile, got here with one of the worst offenses in the country. 

Consecutive two-point wins over Illinois (15-13) and Nebraska (13-10) in recent weeks don’t instill a whole lot of confidence. Credit to the Hawkeyes for finding a way to Lucas Oil, but a 31-0 loss to Penn State – the only ranked opponent they’ve faced – suggests this might not look much better than that 42-3 loss to the Wolverines in the 2021 conference title game.

ACC Championship Game

Louisville vs. Florida State (-3)

Sportsbooks have the ACC title game as the most competitive of the week, with the Seminoles favored by a field goal at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Florida State got a big confidence boost over the weekend with a 24-15 win at Florida that suggested the Seminoles can still make serious noise after quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending injury. 

Louisville had a case as the most underrated team in the country before Saturday’s 38-31 upset loss to Kentucky. The Cardinals had already secured their spot in the title game, but that’s a massive rivalry and Louisville came up short with 100% effort. 

Now they’re in the conference championship game for the first time in program history against a Seminoles squad looking to cap a perfect regular season. And there’s no telling what happens with the CFP committee if Florida State comes up short.
