College Football Playoff: Alabama ranked 5th, Sugar Bowl up next
Alabama was the first team out of the College Football Playoff. The Crimson Tide will play in the Sugar Bowl against the team that beat TCU in Big 12 Championship Game. TCU's overtime loss to Kansas State was not enough to drop them out. The committee chair talked about getting the “four teams right” rather than the four best teams. Alabama played a top ten schedule and controlled games better than either Ohio State or TCU. They finished among the top 4 in virtually every advanced metric.
