College Football Playoff re-ranking after Tennessee loss and TCU, Michigan scares

Week 12 of the 2022 college football season provided some upsets and near-upsets. The biggest upset of week 12 took place in the SEC, where South Carolina destroyed No. 5 Tennessee in a 63-38 blowout. Michigan and TCU came close to losing as well, and Ohio State and Georgia also had their share of troubles. No 7 USC had the most impressive performance of all, defeating No 16 UCLA 48-45 in an instant classic.

Oregon Ducks beat Utah 20-17 on Saturday night to earn the No. 10 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. Bo Nix played well through injury, throwing for 287 yards and a touchdown. The Ducks' defense intercepted Cameron Rising three times and conceded just one touchdown in this victory. Oregon is one win away from earning a spot for the Pac-12 Championship Game. They travel to play Oregon State next Saturday.

Penn State is ranked No. 9 after a 55-10 win over Rutgers. The team has two losses this season, but they have both come against the best teams in the country. If they beat Michigan State at home next week, they should be able to secure a New Year's Six bowl.

Alabama Crimson Tide defeated Austin Peay 34-0. Jase McLellan ran 17 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Jermaine Burton had seven catches for 128 yards. The Crimson Crimson are now ranked No. 8. They can clinch a New Year's Six berth by beating Auburn at home next week.

Clemson is 10-1 and is a contender for the New Year's Six. DJ Uiagalelei played well for Clemson, accounting for 316 total yards and three touchdowns. South Carolina is also a possibility for a College Football Playoff.

LSU beat UAB 41-10 in their final home game of the season. Jayden Daniels, Noah Cain and the defense performed well. The Tigers are 9-2 and will play Texas A&M next Saturday. They will then play Georgia in the SEC Championship in Atlanta.

USC is ranked No. 5 after a 48-45 win over UCLA at the Rose Bowl. They have three games left to close out the season. If they can get through this stretch, they are all but a lock for the College Football Playoff.

The TCU Horned Frogs are 11-0 and in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings. They beat Baylor 29-28 on a last-second field goal. The team's concern is the status of Kendre Miller and Quentin Johnston, who both left the game with injuries.

The Michigan Wolverines beat Illinois 19-17 on Saturday. Jake Moody's field goal in the final minute secured the win. Blake Corum finished with 18 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown, but he left the game with an injury.

Ohio State beat Maryland 43-30. Zach Harrison was the star of defense with two sacks. The winner of the game between Ohio State and Michigan will go to the Big Ten Championship Game and the College Football Playoff.

Georgia Bulldogs are 11-0 and will be in the College Football Playoff. They beat Kentucky 16-6 thanks to a dominant defensive performance. Georgia plays Georgia Tech before playing LSU in SEC Championship.
