College football rankings: Predicting the AP top 25 poll for Championship Saturday

The regular season is over and now the 2022 football season moves to Championship Saturday. The next AP top 25 college football rankings will be announced on Championship Sunday.

North Carolina lost to rival NC State to close out the regular season. The team has nine wins and a date in the ACC title game.

Mississippi State is ranked No. 24 after a win in the Egg Bowl. The Bulldogs are third in their conference.

UCF beat USF to clinch a spot in the AAC Championship Game against Tulane.

Purdue came back to beat Indiana and clinch the Big Ten West title. Now they have to win against Michigan on Championship Saturday.

Texas won't play in the Big 12 title game after Kansas State beat Kansas.

Tulane beat Cincinnati to end the Bengals' 32-game home win streak. The win moves Tulane into AAC title contention. Tulain will play UCF next Saturday.

South Carolina is ranked No. 19 after two straight wins over AP top 10 teams.

Oregon lost to Washington and Oregon State. The Ducks are ranked No. 18.

UCLA beat Cal on the road. The team is ranked No. 17.

Oregon State came from behind to beat Oregon State. The Beavers are 9-3 and await a bowl invitation.

The Fighting Irish beat USC. Drew Pyne hit 23 of 26 passes for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.

Florida State beat Florida at home to move up the rankings.

Kansas State beat Kansas to clinch a spot in the Big 12 title game against TCU. Will Howard threw for over 200 yards and two touchdowns. Deuce Vaughn rushed for 140 yards.

Utah is ranked No. 12 in the latest AP poll. The Utes are playing in a Pac-12 championship game against USC.

Clemson lost to South Carolina. The Tigers are out of the College Football Playoff contention.

Washington beat Washington State to take the Apple Cup.

LSU lost to Texas A&M. The Tigers are out of the College Football Playoff chase. They still have a chance to play against No. 1 Georgia in the SEC title bout.

Penn State won the Land Grant Trophy over Michigan State. Sean Clifford threw four touchdown passes.

Tennessee is ranked No. 7 after a 56-0 win over Vanderbilt. South Carolina's loss to South Dakota last week probably ended its playoff hopes.

Alabama is still in the top six despite the loss on Rocky Top. The Crimson Tide is within striking distance of the other top four teams.

Ohio State is 5th in the AP rankings. The team is struggling on the offensive side of the ball. Ryan Day is 0-2 in his last two games in The Game.

Caleb Williams had a Heisman moment for USC. The Trojans are in the College Football Playoff picture. They play in Pac-12 Championship Game on Saturday.

TCU is ranked No. 3 after a 62-14 victory over the Cyclones. TCU is undefeated and will play in the Big 12 Championship Game.

J.J McCarthy's Michigan team is ranked No. 2 in the AP top 25 poll.

Georgia is the new No. 1 in the AP rankings. Georgia beat Georgia Tech 37-0. Up next is SEC Championship Game.
