College football rankings: Big Ten struggles, Kansas shines

Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and the Jayhawks are all 3-0 in football. Indiana is 3–0, so is Syracuse, Maryland, Tulane and Rutgers. The Big Ten took some losses in nonconference games. Southern Illinois beat Northwestern and won $550,000. Pac-12 got two wins over top-25 teams on the same day for the first time since 2013. Marcus Freeman got his first win as Notre Dame's coach. Hugh Freeze's decision to go for a two-point conversion failed. Liberty dropped its first game.

Georgia beat South Carolina 48-7. Georgia has outscored its first three opponents 130-10. Next game is Kent State.  

Ohio State beat Toledo 77-21. The team has been dominant over Group of 5 teams recently.

The Los Angeles Trojans are playing well this season. They beat Rice, Stanford and Fresno State. Next game is at Oregon State on Saturday.

Penn State beat Auburn 41-12. Next game is against Central Michigan. Penn State has two Power 5 road wins in three weeks.

Last week's win over Texas was easy for Alabama. Next game is against Vanderbilt.  Bryce Young threw two picks and three touchdowns.

Arkansas beat Missouri State 38-27. The team is ranked in the Top 10 because of the win over Cincinnati. Next game is against Texas A&M in Arlington.

The Sooners beat Nebraska 49-14. It was their first game against a Power 5 opponent this season. Next game is against Kansas State.

Mark Stoops' team beat Youngstown State 31-0. Will Levis threw for 377 yards and two touchdowns. Next game is against North Illinois. They travel to Ole Miss on October 1.

The Tennessee Vols beat Akron 63-6. They are now in the Top 10. Their next game is against Florida (Saturday). They also play at LSU and Alabama in next three weeks.

Kansas beat Houston 48-30. Next game is against Duke. The Jayhawks are in the Top 10. They have won two road games this season.
