After one of the best opening weekends ever in college football, Week 2 looks promising if you're a bettor. Here’s a look at our favorite college football underdog bets for Week 2.

College football underdog bets for Sept. 9: Include Illinois, Miami as CFB Week 2 underdog picks?

College football underdog picks: Miami (FL) +3.5 (-108 or better)

The Hurricanes and Texas A&M opened with big victories after 5-7 records last season. Miami pounded Miami (Ohio), 38-3, and Texas A&M defeated New Mexico, 52-10.

This is the Hurricanes’ opportunity to draw a line in the glistening sand of Miami Beach and show the college football world the “U” is back. Under Jimbo Fisher, A&M has been inconsistent. Miami looks like the play.

College football long shots: Appalachian State +19 (-112 or better)

App State has a tough game at North Carolina, which demolished South Carolina last week. But App State has a history of pulling off upsets (as Michigan fans remember). Last year, North Carolina won, 63-61, but App State scored 40 points in the fourth quarter.

One year’s results are no guarantee for the next year, but App State getting 19 points is pretty juicy.

  • San Diego State +14.5 (-110 or better): The Aztecs (2-0) have defeated Ohio and Idaho State and with another home game against UCLA (1-0), and momentum, San Diego State looks like a smart play for those who enjoy the underdog play.
  • Cincinnati +7 (-105 or better): Cincy quarterback Emory Jones was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week. Pitt has a new quarterback in Phil Jurkovec, who will face the strongest part of Cincy’s defense, the pass rush. Both teams are 1-0 after defeating FCS opponents.
  • Tulane +7.5 (-115 or better): The Green Wave is coming off a 37-17 win over South Alabama. Ole Miss (ranked 20th) won its opener, 73-7, over Mercer. Tulane (ranked 24th) is a quality team and knocked off USC in last season’s Cotton Bowl and will have a big, supportive crowd at the neutral-site Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
