The Avalanche are looking to bounce back after a 3-2 setback as heavy favorites against the St. Louis Blues Monday, snapping a 4-game win streak. The team's last win was against the Hurricanes on Saturday by a 4-1 score at Ball Arena in Denver.

After the 4-1 loss in Colorado, the Hurricanes picked up a 3-0 win behind rookie Pyotr Kochetkov as the Under cashed for the 4th time in the last 5 games overall. The shutout was a surprise, as the Canes had allowed 2 or more goals in the prior 12 games.

Avalanche at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 4, Avalanche 3

The HURRICANES (-135) look for a little revenge in Raleigh after the Avalanche (+110) handled Carolina rather easily in Denver last weekend.

The Avs are playing for the 1st time since Monday, and it is 12-1 in the last 13 games when playing on 2 days rest. Colorado has won 13 of the last 17 games on the road, too.

That road dominance will be tested for the Avs, however, as Carolina has won 40 of the last 55 home games, which is an impressive 72.7% clip.

The Avalanche +1.5 (-240) will cost you nearly a 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that's too expensive if you prefer a little insurance rather than taking them straight up.

PASS.

OVER 6.5(+100) is a solid play here, although you will be going against the trends a bit. Play it lightly, however.

Carolina has cashed the Under at a 4-1 clip in the last 5 games, including just 5 total goals in the 1st Canes-Avs game in Denver Saturday.

The Under is 7-3 in the last 10 games overall for the Avalanche, too, including 4-1 in the last 5 on the road. However, Colorado is rested, and the Over is 17-8 in the last 25 games when playing on 2 days of rest.
