Logan Thompson (11-7-0, 2.91 GAA, .904 SV%) vs. Pyotr Kochetkov (6-6-2, 2.62 GAA, .894 SV%, 1 SO)

Thompson allowed just 2 goals on 22 shots in the 6-3 win against the Senators in a relief appearance after Adin Hill left early in the 1st period. He has improved to an impressive 5-1-1 with a 2.47 GAA and .904 SV% in 6 starts and 7 appearances in December.

Kochetkov allowed just a single goal on 21 shots against the Capitals on Sunday in a 2-1 shootout loss, but he obviously received no offensive support. He has allowed just 3 goals on 79 shots while going 2-0-1 during the impressive 3-game span.

Golden Knights at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Hurricanes 2

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+120) is a solid play as a slight underdog on the road.

Vegas has been playing good hockey, including wins in 2 of the past 3 games against Eastern Conference teams. The Hurricanes (-144) have been struggling lately, with the offense having tremendous difficulty. At 2-6-2 in the past 10 games, the Canes can't be trusted.

The Golden Knights +1.5 (-205) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return, and that's just too much risk for insurance. If you like Vegas, just play it straight up against the erratic Hurricanes -1.5 (+168).

AVOID.

The UNDER 6.5 (-134) is a decent play in this battle in Raleigh on Tuesday night.

The total has gone low at a 5-3 clip in the past 8 games overall, and Carolina has managed just 19 goals during the span, averaging 2.4 goals per game (GPG).

Vegas has cashed the Over in 6 in a row, so there is plenty of risk. Prior the run, though, the Under had been 7-1 in 8 games from Nov. 19-Dec. 4. The Under has cashed in 2 of the past 3 games against Eastern Conference teams for the Golden Knights, too.
