Could an Arsenal Player Lift the World Cup This Year?

The Premier League takes a break from the 13 of November through to the 26 of Nov. to accommodate the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. It will be the first time the domestic football season in Europe has paused for an international tournament.

Thomas Partey is an Arsenal midfielder. He is a two-time Ghana Player of the Year. The Black Stars qualified for the World Cup finals for first time since 2014. They are the lowest-ranked team at the tournament and will play against Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

Gabriel Jesus has been a success for Arsenal since joining from Manchester City. He is expected to start for Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar. Brazil is the favourite to win the tournament. The team is ranked No.1 in the FIFA world rankings.

Cedric Soares won the UEFA European Championship in 2016. He is hoping to be named in Portugal's final squad for the 2022 World Cup. Joao Cancelo and Diogo Dalot are also competing for a starting spot. Portugal have yet to win the World cup.

Granit Xhaka has 106 caps for Switzerland. He is captain of his national team. Switzerland have picked up some good results in the UEFA Nations League this year. They beat Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic. This World Cup will be the third tournament Granit has played in.

Matt Turner moved to Arsenal from New England Revolution in the summer transfer window. He has played 20 times for USA and won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2021. Turner is the 2021 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. USA will play England, Iran and Wales in their group at the World Cup.

Arsenal players are going to play in a tournament in Qatar later this year. They will come back to the club fully fit for the second half of the domestic season.
