Could Next Year's Tour de France be the Greatest Showdown in Years?

There is a strong desire for drama and entertainment in cycling. Next year's Tour de France could be a potential classic. If 2022 was a brilliant spectacle, 2023 could even be better if all the big names stay fit and join the party. The best riders go head-to-head.

Jonas Vingegaard is the current Tour de France champion. Tadej Pogačar is a former champion who is now the 7/4 favourite. Remco Evenepoel won the Vuelta a Espana in 2022. Primoz Roglic has won three Vueltas in a row and finished on the podium of the Giro and Tour.

There are four riders with a realistic chance of winning the Tour de France. They are: Egan Bernal, Wout van Aert, Jai Hindley and Juan Ayuso. If all of them make it, it could be the greatest Tour in years. It might be too much to ask for all eight riders to start Le Tour. But even if only four or five of the riders make the race, we could see a race for the ages.
