Crow-Armstrong is a talented young player who grew up playing for Team USA. Brennen Davis had back surgery last year and is focusing on training for 2023. Miguel Amaya is still a good prospect, but he has played only 63 games in the last three minor-league seasons. Jameson Taillon signed a four-year, $68 million contract with the Cardinals. FanGraphs projects a top-five farm system with $305 million in future value. The low-cost talent should allow extra room for splashes in free agency. It's not a textbook deal that swaps a short-term contract for a long- term asset.
