Danny Archer's free horse racings tips for Wednesday

The Randox Grand National betting is dominated by Irish-trained runners with last year’s winner, Noble Yeats, favourite to retain his crown.

However, he is 19lb higher in the ratings and and carrying 11st 11lb to victory after first running in the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup may prove beyond him.

At the early prices, I like the chances of Longhouse Poet, quoted at 20/1 by Coral. He tired late on when sixth in the race last year after racing exuberantly early. If settling better, and with his big pull in the weights, he should be in the thick of things.

Wednesday’s racing features Brandy Love making her comeback in the Quevega Mares’ Hurdle at Punchestown. She should win, but that will be reflected by the betting.

I’ve looked elsewhere for the picks. Remember to gamble responsibly.

It’s good to see Jamie Moore back in the saddle after a spell on the sidelines and he can return with a winner here.

Sopran Thor posted a below-par effort at Sandown last time out but that was too bad to be true as he faded from contention very quickly. The ground, coupled with that being his seasonal debut, looked a mitigating factor. He prefers quicker going.

The form of that race has worked out well and Gary Moore has a 13% strike-rate with runners on Town Moor. This looks a canny bit of placing.

This is a weak maiden hurdle and I imagine plenty will focus on the Nicky Henderson-trained hurdling debutant Royal Max. He’s an interesting contender but I fancy Alastair Ralph can enjoy success here with Welsh Charger.

The five-year-old caught the eye with a huge performance behind an odds-on favourite at Huntingdon last time out, making up plenty of ground on the run for home.

He didn’t look the easiest ride, but stuck to the task well and the front pair pulled well clear of the third. He probably will not have to improve too much to open his account here.

Donald McCain is enjoying another fine season and Patient Dream showed the benefit of the addition of cheekpieces when scoring readily at Market Rasen last time out. He has to overcome a 6lb rise but that is offset by William Maggs claiming 10lb. Patient Dream can go in again here at a track which can suit front-runners.

Kevin Phillippart De Foy has several intriguing runners at Kempton, including this four-year-old who caught the eye when scoring for connections on her second start in the Britain last time out.

I liked the way she quickly put daylight between herself and her rivals. She will have to improve against some fellow course and distance winners from a 5lb higher mark but she is taken to do so.
