Detroit Red Wings vs. Vegas Golden Knights Game Preview 1/19/2023

The Detroit Red Wings end a three-game road trip with a stop in Vegas. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:08 p.m.

Detroit comes into tonight with an 18-17-8 record (44 points) and sit sixth in the Atlantic Division. The Red Wings are led by Dylan Larkin with 15 goals this season. David Perron (14), Dominik Kubalik (13), and Lucas Raymond (13) are the only other skaters in double digits. Larkin also leads Detroit in points with 40. Kubalik and Filip Hronek are tied for second on the team with 31 points each, while Perron and Raymond round out the top five with 30 points each. Villie Husso has been decent in his 30 games thus far. The 27-year-old is 14-10-5 with a 3.10 goals against average and an .889 save percentage. 

Vegas enters tonight’s contest with a 28-15-2 record (58 points) and sit first in the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights are led by Reilly Smith with 18 goals this season. Mark Stone (17), Jack Eichel (15), and Jonathan Marchessault (15) follow close behind Smith. Chandler Stephenson leads a very balanced scoring attack with 40 points. Stone’s 38 points and Eichel’s 33 points also help lead a Vegas offense that has 14 players with at least 10 points this season. Adin Hill was the first goaltender off the ice this morning. Hill is 10-3-1 with a 2.61 GAA and a .909 SV% in 16 games.

Vegas took the first meeting between these teams this season after the sides split the two meetings last season. Tonight’s projected starting goaltenders are Husso for Detroit and Hill for Vegas.
