Devils vs. Hurricanes odds, spread, prediction for Game 4

The New Jersey Devils are aiming to even the series against the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 4 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night at the Prudential Center.

After scoring only two goals through the first two games, New Jersey's offense exploded for a playoff-high eight goals in an 8-4 victory in Game 3 on Sunday afternoon. It was the most goals the Devils have scored in a playoff game since 1988.

Will New Jersey tie the series at two or can the Hurricanes move a game away from advancing to the Conference Finals? Here are my picks and prediction for Game 4 with odds powered by Tipico Sportsbook.

Devils-Hurricanes puck line: Devils -1.5 (+160)

Through the first three games of this series, it's been a rout with none of the contests being a one score affair. The Hurricanes combined to beat New Jersey 11-2 in the matchups in Carolina while the Devils dominated the aforementioned Game 4.

The Devils have now won three straight home games in the playoffs by a combined score of 16-4.

While the Hurricanes were a game away from the Conference Finals last year, they've now lost eight of their previous 10 road postseason games with all of those contests being by multiple goals.

At a great price of +160, bet on New Jersey to win by two or more.

Devils-Hurricanes total: Over 5.5 goals (-105)

I originally anticipated this matchup being a low-scoring series, however it's been anything but that so far. There's been at least six goals in all three games.

Both these teams have great trends to the over as well. Dating back to the regular season, the Devils have gone over in five of their previous seven home games and in four of their prior five overall.

The Hurricanes are 6-1-1 to the over in their previous eight matchups and in four of the last five games on the road.

Wager on the total while it's still at a low bar of 5.5 goals.

Devils-Hurricanes moneyline: Devils (-150)

New Jersey is the favorite in Game 4 and for good reason. Its top goal scorers found the back of the net last time out and scored both on the powerplay and shorthanded.

The Devils will also have to tighten it up defensively as they surrendered three shorthanded goals, the first team to do so in the playoffs in 40 years.

There's no doubt Carolina will put together a much better effort on Tuesday night but I'm betting on New Jersey to even up this series at 2-2 heading back to Raleigh for Game 5 on Thursday.

My Best Bets

For Game 4, place a wager on the Devils moneyline (-150), to cover the -1.5 puck line (+160) and the over 5.5 goals at -105 on Tipico Sportsbook.
