NJ Devils vs. Montreal Canadiens odds, picks and predictions Understanding basics of sports betting | BetFTW 101Want to learn more about sports betting? BetFTW 101 is here to explain what money line, spread and over/under means.

The New Jersey Devils (37-14-5, 2nd in Metropolitan) continue their four-game homestand as they take on the Montreal Canadiens (23-29-4, 8th in Atlantic) at Prudential Center on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Down 2-1 at the end of the first period against Winnipeg on Sunday night, New Jersey scored three unanswered goals in the third period in a 4-2 victory.

The Canadiens are in the middle of a four-game road trip and have dropped both games, being outscored 11-3 against the Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Here are my picks and predictions for Tuesday night's Eastern Conference matchup with odds powered by Tipico Sportsbook.

Spread: Devils -1.5 (-140)

During their six-game home winning streak, four of those games have gone to overtime. However, I think New Jersey dominates in this spot and here's why:

The Devils have scored at least three goals in seven straight wins, while Montreal has lost by multiple goals in five of their prior seven losses.

The current line isn't a tremendous value, but I'd still pay that price as I expect the Devils to take care of business against a lowly Canadiens squad.

Over/Under: Under 6.5 goals (-120)

Devils goaltender Vitek Vanecek got the rest on Sunday, but I expect him to get the nod Tuesday. The 27-year-old has surrendered two or fewer goals in eight of his 12 starts including six of his previous seven since the calendar flipped to 2023.

Despite being much better on the road than at home, New Jersey has given up the eighth fewest amount of goals to its opponents this season on home ice.

At -120, this is my best bet of the night as there will be fewer than seven goals scored.

Moneyline: Devils (-360)

It should be no surprise the Devils are massive favorites here. This is a complete mismatch between one of the most complete teams in the Devils, while the Canadiens have been poor on both ends of the ice.

This is the second biggest favorite the Devils have been this season, only behind when they were -430 on the moneyline against the Chicago Blackhawks on Dec. 6.

If you're looking for value on Tipico Sportsbook, bet on New Jersey to win and under 5.5 goals scored at +285.

My Best Bets

Place a wager on the Devils' hefty moneyline price (-360), to cover the -1.5 spread (-140) and the under 6.5 total goals at -120 on Tipico Sportsbook.
