Do NBA preseason games actually matter? What exhibition results tell us about betting on Lakers, Kings and more

The Bulls, Trail Blazers and Lakers performed well in the preseason. The Las Vegas Oddsmakers had predicted the Bulls to be a 42.5-win team. Kostya Medvedovsky's model went 21-8-1 against the over/under win totals set by Las Las Vegans. Medvevskoy believes preseason data is useful and should be considered more than the usual.  

Last year, the Mavericks, Bulls, Suns, Knicks and Warriors were in the top five in preseason point differential. The Trail Blazers, Hornets, Lakers, Pelicans and Clippers landed at the bottom.

This preseason's biggest overachievers are averaging double-digit wins against opponents.

The NBA preseason games are important for betting on the upcoming season. The Kings are the best over bet. Thunder and Rockets are underachievers. Bulls might not be in bad shape after losing Lonzo Ball. Hornets might be discombobulated. Bucks are less worrisome. Lakers are probably the under bet, as they have looked awful. Medvedovsky will tweet his preseason model again this season, incorporating the exhibition data and other factors.
