Drew Brees Forces Gambling Regulators to Halt Citrus Bowl Betting

Drew Brees' team Purdue will play in the Citrus bowl on January 2nd in Florida. New Jersey gambling regulators ordered bookmakers to stop accepting bets on the game.

Drew Brees has a commercial relationship with sportsbook PointsBet and holds an equity investment in the company. He agreed to serve as an interim assistant coach for Purdue in Citrus Bowl.

Drew Brees' team Purdue is playing in the Citrus bowl. New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement ordered sportsbooks to stop taking bets involving Purdue football. Wagers placed after December 15 were void.

PointsBet has terminated its partnership with Brees. Brees signed on as a brand ambassador for the company in June of 2021. He got an equity investment in the corresponding sportsbook as part of the agreement.

The point spread for the Citrus Bowl has shifted from LSU -11.5 to LSU-14.
