Dueling sports betting measures on the ballot in California

The gaming industry and Native American tribes are spending big on dueling propositions to legalize sports gambling in California. The initiative bankrolled by a coalition of tribes would also allow roulette and dice games at casinos. Proposition 27 would allow online and mobile sports betting for adults. Both initiatives are expected to increase state revenues.  The nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office found that both initiatives would increase the state revenue. It's unclear how much. If both propositions are approved, the one with the most votes will prevail. A provision in the California Constitution calls for the winner to be chosen by the majority of votes.
