Duke vs. North Carolina score: Live game updates, college basketball scores today, NCAA top 25 highlights

A 7-0 run for North Carolina prompts a timeout from Jon Scheyer at the 12:08 mark. Armando Bacot is up to 15 points and RJ Davis has 12 on 2 of 3 shooting from beyond the arc. Tar Heels coming to life, and this game is tied at 43. UNC is just 3 of 13 from the field in the second half but continues reaching the FT line.

He's got a double-double already. In the first meeting, Lively was the seven-foot freshman hero for Duke. Tonight it looks like Filipowski is stepping up for this young Blue Devils team getting a taste of the Dean Dome for the first time.

That's four fouls on Dereck Lively II at the 17:06 mark. He was a shot-blocking force in the first meeting but has been quiet tonight, due in part to foul trouble. Ryan Young enters for Lively. A gain for Duke offensively but a big hit on defense in protecting the rim.

After shooting just three free throws in the first meeting between these teams, UNC shot 13 in the first half, making 11. But the Tar Heels have some foul trouble of their own. Here's the rundown of the foul situation:
Players with 2: Ryan Young, Dariq Whitehead, Dereck Lively II, Armando Bacot.
Player with 3: Pete Nance.

Armando Bacot gets a big bucket just before half to send UNC to the locker room with some momentum after Duke dominated the offensive glass with a 10-2 edge in the first half. Kyle Filipowski has been a force for the Blue Devils while Tyrese Proctor has seven quiet points for Duke as well. Bacot and RJ Davis each have nine for UNC. Don't be fooled by the "15 bench points" from the Tar Heels. Davis and Caleb Love came off the bench as Hubert Davis started his all-senior lineup.

Kyle Filipowski is on the cusp of a double-double late in the first half as Duke maintains a 31-27 lead. The Blue Devils are leading 10-0 in second-chance points. The absence of Nance with two fouls has handicapped UNC on the glass.

Hubert Davis went bench-heavy while trying to sneak some rest for UNC's starters before the u4 timeout, and it backfired as the Blue Devils go on a quick 5-0 run to make it 28-23.

UNC ties it up on an and-one layup from Caleb Love at the 5:03 mark. UNC goes even deeper into the bench with a trio of freshmen before the U4 timeout. Big sequence for the Tar Heels.

Nice block from Armando Bacot, who then ran the floor to catch a transition pass and score. 18-16 Duke at the u8 timeout. D'Marco Dunn and Dontrez Styles getting some run for the Heels with Pete Nance in foul trouble and Puff Johnson back in the locker room trying to work through an apparent hamstring injury.

11-9 Duke and the UNC fans are already disenchanted with the officiating. Five fouls on the Tar Heels versus just two on Duke. Nance just picked up his second, which puts Hubert Davis in a tough spot following Puff Johnson's departure because of injury.

A second-chance 3-pointer from Jeremy Roach puts Duke ahead 11-9. He's 2 of 2 from deep early. Puff Johnson exits due to injury shortly after entering for Pete Nance. Tar Heels not deep to begin with.

It's all about the defense early with the teams a combined 3 of 10 from the floor to start with UNC leading 5-2. Duke already has three blocks. But the Blue Devils have also turned it over three times. Love and Nance with early fouls for UNC while Whitehead has an early foul for the Blue Devils.

Just about set for tip from The Dean Dome. Environment looks lit, as you would expect. Tar Heels have their backs against the wall against their arch rival today. Four freshmen in the starting lineup for Duke and FIVE seniors in the starting lineup for UNC. Quite the contrast there.

North Carolina is going with the all-seniors starting lineup on Senior Day even though it's arguably a must-win game. Jackson Watkins gets the start at guard along with more familiar names Leaky Black, Justin McKoy, Pete Nance and Armando Bacot.

For Duke it's Jeremy Roach, Tyrese Proctor, Mark Mitchell, Kyle Filipowski and Dereck Lively II

UNC won the regular-season finale between the teams last season in legendary Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski's final home game and used the victory to jumpstart an incredible postseason run. The Tar Heels have their backs against the wall once again, and this time they also have home court advantage. The stakes are simply too high for North Carolina to come out flat as it has done too often this season. Its NCAA Tournament hopes are at stake, and so is revenge after a dud performance against Duke in the season's first meeting. Look for the Heels to play inspired basketball. Prediction: North Carolina -2.5
