Odds are good for sequel to California sports betting effort
Voters rejected two ballot measures to legalize sports betting in California. The measure supported by Native American tribes was defeated by 70% of voters. Supporters of both measures are reevaluating their options. The U.S. Supreme Court allowed sports gambling in 2018. It's too soon to tell how the situation will unfold in the Golden State. There's a multibillion dollar market in this state. Some states legalized it quickly, others took longer. In the case of Massachusetts, it took several years to work it out legislatively. Becky Harris, a gaming expert, thinks sports wagering is imminent.
