The English Football League play-off finals will take place over the weekend of 27-29 May at Wembley Stadium with three teams set for promotion over the three days. So, read on to find out more about all of the EFL Play-Off Finals. 

The Championship play-off final is scheduled for Saturday, 27 May. Sunday will host the League Two final, while the League One final rounds off the bank holiday on Monday, 29 May.

Who’s Playing In The EFL Play-Off Finals?

Championship Play-Off Final: Coventry City vs Luton Town, Sat 27 May, 4:45pm

Coventry City will face Luton Town where the winner will be promoted to the Premier League.

The Sky Blues beat Middlesbrough 1-0 over two legs as Gustavo Hamer scored the winner at the Riverside in the second leg to secure the win.

As for Luton, they came from behind to beat Sunderland in the second leg. The Black Cats won 2-1 at home in the first leg, but Luton won 2-0 at home in the second leg to progress to the final.

League Two Play-Off Final: Carlisle Vs Stockport, Sun 28 May, 1:45pm

The League Two play-off semi-finals produced plenty of drama and entertainment. Carlisle were 1-0 down on aggregate after losing to Bradford City in the first leg, and won 3-1 in the second leg after extra time to win 3-2 overall and progress to Wembley.

As for their opponents Stockport, they came from behind as well..

The Hatters won the tie against Salford City on penalties, after drawing 2-2 on aggregate. Dave Challinor’s side will be looking to record back-to-back promotions after coming up to League Two from the National League last season.

League One Play-Off Final: Barnsley vs Sheffield Wednesday, Mon 29 May, 3:00pm

Barnsley beat Bolton 2-1 over two legs to book their place in their year’s League One playoff final, to set up a South Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley.

The Owls made their way to the final in the most unbelievable of circumstances. Darren Moore’s side produced one of the greatest comebacks in EFL history as they beat Peterborough on penalties.

Posh won the first leg 4-0, giving the Owls no hope at all, but Wednesday fought back to force extra time in the second leg after winning 4-0 in 90 minutes. After extra time the aggregate score was 5-5, then Moore’s men won 5-3 on penalties to progress to the final.
