Exuberant expat is a not-so-secret Santa

David has a family of his own, a Cypriot wife and two boys, Odysseas and Apollonas. He's been living in Cyprus since 2005. David has been playing Santa Claus since 1985, when he was 22. He has an expansive worldview and a love for the open road. His Greek is adequate for talking to children. The questions he gets from them are related to Santa and the magic. It's not just about posing for photos and handing out presents. it's also about making the kids laugh. and reassuring them. he's being more ambitious these days. "I was described one time as 'chaotic good'".

David Dowell is an expat in Cyprus. He is a Santa Claus for one month a year. David is not happy with his life in the small island. He likes to ride motorcycles and is looking for a new job. His wife is better than he deserves. The visit costs €70 per hour. It's not clear if he will move to Northern Italy. For now he's happy to be with Stavri and the boys. They live in a small town. There are few places to go. A Santa visit is expensive. Mr Dowel is bad at telling time. he does not like rules and schedules.
