FanDuel has become the dominant player in New York sports betting. The company has grabbed nearly half of the market share in a state that has generated $12.97 billion in handle and $1.06 billion since launch. DraftKings has done $3.49 billion handle, Caesars Sportsbook has tallied $2.3 billion. All three companies began taking mobile sports bets on the same day, Jan. 8.
FanDuel has a high hold rate of 9.6% since launch. DraftKings' hold rates are 7. 6%, Caesars' is 8%. The average nationwide hold is around 7%. Fall and the return of NFL action have led to a strong overall recovery after a summer lull for sports betting in New York.
