FCS Week 5 Predictions: Richmond-Elon, Samford-Furman, UC Davis-Montana State + More

Week 5 of the 2022 FCS season is going to be fun. Richmond-Elon, Samford-Furman, UC Davis-Montana State and more are on the schedule.

No. 17 Richmond plays No. 23 Elon in the only ranked vs. ranked game of the weekend. Both teams are undefeated. Elon is coming off a wild 35-31 win at No 14 William & Mary. Richmond beat Stony Brook 51-7.

No. 7 Missouri State plays at North Dakota. The Bears beat UT Martin and UCA. North Dakota lost to South Dakota State. UND is 2-2 and has games against SDSU and NDSu left. Mo State is expected to get a higher seed.

Missouri State will beat Missouri State 38-31 in FCS Week 5.

Youngstown State plays North Dakota State at the Fargodome. The Penguins are 2-1 and 2 of their last 3 games have been against ranked opponents. Last year, NDSU won the game 49-17. YSU has yet to play a full-scholarship FCS team.

Samford and Furman are playing in the SoCon this week. Samford's offense is on another level, scoring 68 points in last two games. Furmen's defense is looking fantastic. CSU is 0-4. UC Davis-Montana State is also a game to watch. FCS games are Richmond-Elon, Samord-Furman, UCDavis- Montana, and more.

Chattanooga has almost quietly taken ETSU's place as a Top 10 FCS team out of the SoCon. Chattanooga has outscored its three FSC opponents 110-34. Etsu has lost two straight Socon games to The Citadel and Furman and beat Robert Morris 45-3.

UC Davis plays Montana State in a night game on ESPNU. MSU is undefeated against FCS opponents and has the No. 3 rushing offense. UC Davis needs to win to keep its playoff hopes alive. The Aggies are 1-3 overall and 1 of 2 against the FSC. They have lost to two Top 10 teams. They would need to lose to one more to have a shot at an at-large bid.

Montana State will beat UC Davis 24-14 in FCS Week 5.

Kennesaw State plays Jacksonville State at home on Saturday. The Owls are struggling with their option offense. JSU is 4-0 against FCS opponents and has scored 34 points or more in all of those games.

Jacksonville State will beat Elon 35-17 in FCS Week 5.

Holy Cross is 4-0 and is ranked in the Top 10. Last season, Holy Cross lost to Harvard. This year, the team has shown more maturity and has a better record. Harvard is 2-1 and won against Merrimack and Brown. Holycross is starting to position itself for a playoff seed.
