‘Fiery’ debutant Dragon’s Luck takes massive plunge in his stride: ‘good horses can do that’

Dragon's Luck won the Panasonic Ziaino Air Treatment Handicap at Sha Tin on Saturday. The debutant was considered a $14 chance half an hour before the race. It was the second win in consecutive meetings for the Whyte-Hewitson combination. Beau Gosse finished fourth at $154 and Boom Alliance came third at $32. He is the 10th win of the campaign for Lyle Hewits on the trainer.

Matthew Poon Ming-fai has won 200 Hong Kong races. He hopes to win 300 or 400 in the future. Poons first Hongkong win came in October 2018. It was his 70th win in his apprenticeship.

Righteous Doctrine's victory under Silvestre de Sousa ended a run of 46 outs for Michael Chang Chun-wai. Superb Daddy's win ended 35-run dry spell for Me Tsui Yu-sak. HKJC Racing has three winners for the campaign. It is the third strike for Chang in two seasons.

The beer garden at Happy Valley will be reopening on November 23. Fans will no longer have to pre-book tickets. The festival is expected to draw more people than usual. There will also be a big crowd for the International Jockeys’ Championship at the city circuit and the Longines Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin.
