Five riders who can win the Tour de France

The Grand Départ of the 106th Tour de France is in Brussels, Belgium. Chris Froome is absent. Tom Dumoulin won the Giro d'Italia and Tour last year. Enric Mas, Mikel Landa, Steven Kruijswijk, Rigoberto Uran, Richie Porte, Nairo Quintana, Dennis Rohan, Vincenzo Nibali, Michael Woods, Dan Martin and Romain Bardet are potential podium contenders.

Egan Bernal is the favourite to win the Tour de France. Berna won the Tuscany Tour. He has a strong team with powerful teammates. It is only his second Grand Tour, but he has experience.

Geraint Thomas is co-leader of Ineos with Colombian teammate Bernal. Thomas finished 15th in last year's Tour de Suisse. He has few race days this season as he also withdrew from Tirreno-Adriatico through illness.

Jakob Fuglsang is having the best season of his career. Astana is sending a strong team in support. Fugl's last Grand Tour finish was in 2013. He needs Astanas to challenge Ineos and other outfits to take it to Bernal and Thomas.

Adam Yates (Great Britain/Mitchelton-Scott) is aiming to win the Tour de France. Thibaut Pinot (France/Groupama-FDJ) has a good team with Stefan Küng and Sébastien Reichenbach.   For the French, there hasn't been a Tour winner in 34 years. For others, it's been difficult for them.

Froome and Dumoulin are absent from the Tour de France. The race is less predictable now. It was dominated by U.S. Postal/Discovery and Sky for the first twenty years.
