Florida Panthers About to Spend A LOT More on Their Goalies

Spencer Knight signed a three-year, $13.5 million contract extension with the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. The contract will hold a $4. 5 million annual cap hit. Sergei Bobrovsky's contract is worth $10 million through the final year of his current deal. Knight and Bobrovsky will be the highest-paid goalies in the NHL next July. Florida's first-round pick in 2019 was selected by Knight. He played in 12 of Florida’s final 29 games during its Presidents” Trophy-winning 2021-22 season.

Knight signed a new contract worth $4.5 million. Bobrovsky's contract is worth more if he plays well. His first two years in Florida were rocky. He played 39-7-3 in the regular season and 4-6-0 in playoffs. The future of his contract depends on his performance. Florida has many draft assets to work with. Bobrovsky's performance could determine how much of the contract they have to give up to trade him.
