Florida St vs Louisville prediction: ACC Championship picks

Florida State has been subject to a lot of scrutiny over the last few weeks with the possibility that the Seminoles could be left out of the College Football Playoff as an undefeated team. However, they will have an opportunity to beat a Top 15 opponent in Louisville with a second or third-string quarterback. Bank of America Stadium plays host to a game with heavy College Football Playoff implications.

The 2023 ACC Championship Game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. CT from Charlotte, North Carolina. ABC will carry the national broadcast with Joe Tessitore and Jesse Palmer on the call.

Caesars Sportsbook, the official odds partner of Bet.NOLA.com, is favoring the Seminoles by a smidge with the over/under set at 46.5 total points.

Let's take a closer look at the odds, highlight a pick and make a prediction for the ACC Championship Game:

Florida State Seminoles (12-0) vs. Louisville Cardinals (10-2)

Time/TV: 7 p.m. (ABC)

Spread: Florida State -1

Over/Under: 46.5

Moneyline: Florida State -120, Louisville +100

TOP PICK

Florida State -1 vs. Louisville (-110 at Caesars Sportsbook)

This game is, for lack of a better term, a poor man's Oregon-Washington, in my opinion. Gabe, what do you mean by that exactly? Much like the Pac-12 Championship Game, I do not understand this line.

There are many questions regarding Florida State's quarterback situation, will it be Tate Rodemaker or freshman Brock Glenn? Truth be told, I'm not sure it matters. Losing Jordan Travis was a huge blow to the Seminoles and maybe without him, they're not one of the "four best teams" in the field. However, their résumé speaks for itself and I believe they're better than Louisville in nearly every aspect.

Florida State has enough talent on defense and enough playmakers on offense to help out whichever young quarterback lines up under center. The Seminoles have had to listen to the, as Nick Saban would call it, "rat poison," all week long about how they're not deserving of a spot. Mike Norvell's team now has a point to prove.

Meanwhile, a defeated Louisville team may just be the only thing standing in the way of Florida State and a College Football Playoff appearance.

Cardinals signal caller Jack Plummer struggles when pressured. The Seminoles will be in the backfield all night long as they rank in the Top 20 in tackles for loss and Top 10 in sacks. That'll be the difference, in my opinion, as Keon Coleman and Co. on the other side find ways to put a few scores on the board.

These are two Top 20 defenses in the country, so expect a low-scoring, physical football game to cap off a fantastic Saturday slate. I'm siding with experience, I'm siding with the squad with a chip on its shoulder, I'm siding with the Seminoles. At -1, all Norvell's team needs to do is essentially win this football game to cover — it's a safe pick with decent value.

Prediction: Florida State 23, Louisville 17 (Under 46.5)
