For South Korea golf, Presidents Cup, Asian Games can be life-changing

For South Korean golfers, the Presidents Cup and Asian Games are important. The International team is looking for its second Presidents cup title in 14 editions. It's the first time since 1998 that the International Team has won the tournament. A gold medal at the Asian games can largely exempt them from the nation's 18-month military service requirement for men. The sport returned to the program after 112 years. South Korea has passed Japan as the deepest Asian nation in men's professional golf. Japan has one player at Presidents Cups, 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama. K.H. Lee was on the 2010 Asian Olympics champion team to earn his military exemption.
