Former Celtic Star Leigh Griffiths Arrested in Betting Probe

Leigh Griffiths was questioned by police as part of a sports betting investigation. He was brought to a police station in Glasgow and released without charges. Two other people involved in Scottish football were arrested.

The search at Leigh Griffiths' home took two and a half hours and involved over ten police officers. The detached property is currently up for sale and is valued at £675,000 ($828,360). Leigh played for Celtic for 8 years and scored 123 goals in that time. He also played 22 times for the Scotland national team and four times. Leigh is without a club but there are rumors he could be set to return to Celtic on a short-term deal.

Leigh Griffiths is the latest footballer to be arrested as part of a sports betting investigation. Numerous players have gotten in trouble for their involvement in various types of betting activity. The Football Association in England has accused Ivan Toney of committing 232 gambling offenses over a four-year period.
