Free horse racing tips for Wednesday: Dave Nevison's bets

Betting expert Dave Nevison shares his best bets across Newbury and Nottingham on Wednesday. Enjoy both meetings live on Racing TV.

This five-year-old is due to win in the near future, he just needs thing to go right for him.

His latest effort can be excused as he was on the wrong side of the track plus got carried wide when looking to challenge.

He ran really well prior to that when runner-up at Ascot and he is still 5lb lower than when notching his latest success over this course and distance.

Hopefully, he will get a decent pace to aim at here and enjoy the rub of the green when challenging this time.

Discretion looks as though she may be able to resume her progression from last year. She produced a below-par effort in the Sandringham Handicap at Ascot when seeking a hat-trick on her final outing in 2022 and returned to action in May when her stable was not in the best of form.

She ran well enough to suggest she would be better for the outing, though, and with the Charlton team in much better form now, more can be expected from the selection.

It looks likely she will be able to hold a prominent position and might be able to repel what looks like a field full of rivals who have proved disappointing.

Looks to have improved as a four-year-old, possibly due to the application of a tongue ti. He won at Windsor on his penultimate outing but definitely improved last time out when third in a competitive event at York.

He hung left towards the finish of that race and the application of the cheekpieces looks significant here. He is only a pound higher now and this also looks a less competitive affair.

This race looks set to be run at a good pace, too, and that will suit Splendent who will hopefully get back to winning ways.
