Horse racing tips for Saturday: Dave Nevison's best bets

Our in-form betting expert struck with 11-1 winner Pendleton at Thirsk on Friday and shares his selections for Sandown and Beverley on Saturday, live on Racing TV.

Hopefully there will be a decent pace in this tight handicap as Alice Haynes’ very useful handicapper needs to be able to settle well to show his best form.

His draw in stall one may be very helpful as Kieran O’Neill might be able to get Indemnify to tuck in nicely, and if the field fans out up the straight, as it often does, it is easy to envisage a winning run through on the far rail.

Indemnify won at this track in May and is only 4lb higher than that victory over a mile plus may be very well suited by the faster pace that this 7f contest should provide.

It might be worth watching him head to post on Racing TV Extra before backing him, but he holds a real chance if on song and settling OK.

Charlie Johnston’s three-year-old is taking on older horses for this step up to 12 furlongs, but it looks like a move that is well overdue.

Perfect Play has been really consistent over ten furlongs this season and looks to have improved on recent starts but has bumped into progressive types recently.

He is a typical runner from the Johnston yard in that he will make the running, and Joe Fanning rides this track better than most.

Dual Identity was in a rich vein of form this time last year, including when finishing runner-up in this event, and is back down to a rating of 86, which is just a pound higher than last year.

The handicapper raised him to a rating of 95 last season, and he ran several good races from marks in the low 90’s last year.

He has not had things go perfectly on all of his runs this season and has been keeping the hottest of company in big handicaps. He is another who is well suited by this track and prefers a decent pace.

He appears ready for this step back up to 10f after two recent runs over a mile plus looks seriously well handicapped. He is my best bet of the day.

Ruth Carr’s five-year-old might not be the most prolific of customers but has a good chance to make all the running here from stall one.

He is drawn next to a couple of slower starters and should be able to grab the lead plus hopefully hold on.

Jojo Rabbit has run his two best races this season over this course and distance and was narrowly beaten when fifth here recently. He was only just run out of things close home there and is running off a pound lower this time.

He will be very well suited by the fast conditions and James Sullivan was the last jockey to win on him.
