Hammers can make quality tell

West Ham United have enjoyed a solid start to the season. They sit seventh in the Premier League, have won their Europa League opener and are through to the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

The Hammers have won three of their last four games in all competitions and have shown significant improvement on the road.

David Moyes’s side had the fourth-worst away record in the Premier League last season, winning just three of their 19 games, but they have already triumphed twice on their travels this term.

They now take on a Freiburg side who are on a three-game unbeaten run and occupy eighth spot in the Bundesliga.

Although Christian Streich’s side are on a decent run, they have struggled against stronger opposition this season losing 5-0 at Stuttgart and 4-2 at home to Borussia Dortmund.

West Ham are as capable as both Stuttgart and BVB and there is the sense that the English travellers have that extra quality in the final third that can ensure they head back with all three points.

Freiburg vs West Ham tip 1: West Ham to win @ 8/5 with BetUK

Ward-Prowse worth a shot

West Ham’s summer capture of James Ward-Prowse has already proved to be money well spent, the set-piece specialist scoring twice and registering three assists in only six league appearances.

The 28-year-old also provided two assists in West Ham’s opening Europa League win over Backa Topola, a game in which he also had one attempt on target.

Ward-Prowse has racked up eight shots in the Premier League this term, six of those on target, and he can test the goalkeeper on Thursday.

Freiburg vs West Ham tip 2: James Ward-Prowse to have over 0.5 shots on target @ 27/25 with BetUK

Kudus forms part of bet builder

Mohammed Kudus has been limited to four substitute appearances in the Premier League since his summer switch to West Ham but he has been handed two starts in cup competitions.

The Ghana midfielder shone in the Backa Topola victory, grabbing two goals from his five attempts, and backing him to have over 2.5 shots in this encounter looks like a solid play.

Throwing in Edson Alvarez and Maximilian Eggestein to both be booked bumps up the price for this bet builder.

Midfielder Alvarez has been shown four yellows in six league appearances this season and his foul count of 10 is surpassed at West Ham only by Lucas Paqueta (15).

Freiburg midfielder Eggestein is also not afraid to stick his foot in and he has been booked twice in the Bundesliga this term. He looks like a worthy candidate for another caution.

Punters should round off this bet builder with over 2.5 goals. This selection has landed in three of West Ham’s five away games this season and also in four of Freiburg’s last seven outings.

Freiburg vs West Ham tip 3: Bet builder: Over 2.5 goals, Mohammed Kudus over 2.5 shots, Edson Alvarez to get a card and Maximilian Eggestein to get a card @ 30/1 with BetUK
