The PDC World Darts Championship will finish the second round on Friday, December 23, before going into a three-day break for the Christmas holidays. So far, the World Darts Championship has put on a brilliant event, with the top players in the world competing at Alexandra Palace.

Bookmakers’ favourites Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith, and Gerwyn Price all eased into the third round of the competition. All three will return to action after Christmas. The final day of the second round will see some of the tournament’s outright winner favourites take to the stage.

Danny Noppert and Jonny Clayton are both in the top 20 for outright winner odds. The duo will play on Friday, with the chance to progress to the third round. Will we see any major upsets on Friday in the PDC World Darts Championship?

Friday PDC World Darts Championship Betting Tips

Danny Noppert will play Canada’s David Cameron in the second round on Friday. Noppert is a heavy favourite at odds of 1/7. “The Freeze” is the No 9 ranked player in the world. He reached the last 32 in the last three PDC World Darts Championship events.

Cameron is experienced on the WDF circuit. He reached the WFC World Championship last 16 in 2019. Cameron is the current 2022 World Seniors Darts Masters champion. He is also a Canadian triple crown champion.

Cameron needs five sets to defeat Ritchie Edhouse in the first round. He lost the first two sets before battling back to win three consecutive sets to take the match. Noppert should see off Cameron. It could take over 3.5 sets for Noppert to get the win, however. Cameron showed in the first round that he has the ability to battle from behind.

Rob Cross and Scott Williams will play on Friday. Cross is one of the favourites to win the tournament at odds of 33/1. Williams defeated Ryan Joyce in the first round 3-1. He won the first set before losing set No 2. Williams rallied to win the third and fourth sets.

Cross won the 2018 PDC World Darts Championship. Williams’ best performance has already come this season in the World Darts Championship by reaching the last 64. Cross should post a second-round win. Cross is at a good value to score the most 180s at odds of 5/2. Our betting tips prediction is for Cross to score the most 180s versus Williams.

Wednesday’s PDC World Darts Championship saw two of the eight matches go to five sets. Meanwhile, six of the eight matches finished with under 4.5 sets. After Wednesday’s action at the tournament, 35 of the matches finished with under 4.5 sets.

Our betting tips is to consider under 4.5 sets in matches on Friday at the PDC World Darts Championship. Several matches on Friday will feature heavy favourites playing heavy underdogs.

One match that stands out on Friday is Martin Schindler and Martin Lukeman. Schindler is 4/7 to win, while Lukeman is at odds of 11/8. Lukeman pulled off a 3-0 win against Nobuhiro Yamamoto in the first round.

Lukeman will aim for the upset against the higher-ranked Schindler. Two strong darts players will play with the over/under at 4.5 sets. Our betting tips prediction is to take the under at odds of 13/8.
