Fulham vs Man United prediction, odds, betting tips and best bets for Premier League match

The Sporting News

Two floundering clubs in desperate need of a result meet at Craven Cottage on Saturday, and victory will be the prime objective for both Fulham and Manchester United.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is under significant scrutiny as United have been thrashed 3-0 in their two most recent games, both at home, against Man City in the league and Newcastle in the EFL Cup. They sit eighth in the Premier League table and third in their Champions League group, plus their exit from the league cup to boot.

Fulham, meanwhile, have been unable to recapture their best form from last season, sitting 14th in the table with just a single win over their past five league matches. Still, a place in the EFL Cup quarterfinals thanks to a midweek win over strong Championship side Ipswich Town will provide a bit of a springboard moving forward.

This match will also make a bit of history, as Rebecca Welch will serve as fourth official, becoming the first woman to serve as official of any kind in a Premier League match.

Fulham vs Man United prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Man United (+120)
  • Score prediction: Fulham 2-3 Man United

While Manchester United are in a very poor run of form, they have a perfect get-right situation here. Fulham have put up a good fight against the Red Devils in recent matches, but can never seem to secure a result. The Whites have not beaten Man United since December of 2012, a run of 17 matches across all competitions with just three draws across that span.

Erik ten Hag may be somewhat in over his head with how many locker room issues have cropped up across the last few weeks, but he should be able to engineer a victory here. If not, there will surely be calls for his job in the aftermath.

Fulham vs Man United best bet

  • Pick: Over 2.5 goals
  • Odds: -130 (DraftKings)

Simply put, neither of these teams can defend. There's very little to add in that department, but we'll provide proof for the sake of the content.

Only six teams in the Premier League have conceded more non-penalty expected goals than these two clubs this season, and four of them make up the very bottom of the table. Add in that Fulham are without both Tosin Adarabioyo and Issa Diop due to injury, while Manchester United must play through the absences of Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez, while Raphael Varane's status is uncertain after conflicting reports regarding his absence from the last two games.

Add in the fact that 10 of the last 12 matchups between these two clubs across all competitions have gone over the total, and it's likely that Bernd Leno and Andre Onana will be very busy yet again.

Fulham vs Man United prop bet

  • Pick: Man United over 5.5 shots on target
  • Odds: +120 (FanDuel)

Manchester United could manage only two total shots on target against Newcastle in the EFL Cup midweek, prompting plenty of jokes, but that should turn around here. Erik ten Hag started a few second-choice forwards, such as Anthony Martial, in that League Cup match, only forced to bring on his regulars in the second half hoping for a turnaround.

With his main starters like Rasmus Hojlund likely to be back in the lineup from the opening whistle, they should be able to take full advantage of their leaky opponent. Last season, nobody in the Premier League conceded more good chances than Fulham, and while they've improved that slightly, sitting 15th in the EPL on expected goals allowed, they are still vulnerable at the back, heavily reliant on Bernd Leno to shore things up in goal.

United average 4.8 shots on target per match this season so far in Premier League play, and they should be able to muster even slightly above that to trigger a win on this play.
