Gallagher Premiership: Club-by-club guide to the 2022-23 campaign

The 2022-23 Gallagher Premiership season kicks off on Friday with a west country derby between Bristol and Bath at Ashton Gate. It is the 26th season and 11-time champions Leicester will defend the crown they won after a thrilling Twickenham final against Saracens.

Bath finished 13th last season. Niall Annett, Matt Gallagher, Chris Cloete, Louis Schreuder, Dave Attwood, Piers Francis, JJ Tonks, Wesley White, GJ van Velze, Quinn Roux, Michael Etete and Ollie Fox are new players. Taulupe Faletau, Semesa Rokoduguni, Anthony Watson, Max Clark, Valery Morozov, Tian Schoeman, Danny Cipriani, Tom Prydie are out.

Bristol finished 10th last season. Ellis Genge, AJ MacGinty, Magnus Bradbury, Gabriel Ibitoye, Richard Lane, Antoine Frisch, Tiff Eden, Alapati Leiua, Mitch Eadie, Niyi Adeolokun, Nathan Hughes have been released.

Jack Dunne, Rory O'Loughlin, Solomone Kata, Aidon Davis, Ruben van Heerden, Jonny Hill, Tom O’Flaherty, Will Witty, Alfie Petch, Aaron Hinkley, Sean Lonsdale, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne and Don Armand are out.

Gloucester finished 5th last season. Albert Tuisue is the new coach. Jason Woodward, Will Britton, Olly Adkins, Seb Nagle-Taylor, Toby Venner, Jack Stanley, Ed Slater are out.

Harlequins finished 3rd last season. Irne Herbst and Charlie Matthews have joined Benetton. Hugh Tizard, Huw Jones, Christian Scotland-Williamson, Matt Symons, Joe Gray have retired.

Leicester won the Premiership last season. Handre Pollard, Anthony Watson, Jimmy Gopperth, James Cronin, Phil Cokanasiga, Olly Cracknell, Joe Taufete’e, Lachlan Shelley, Eastwood, Tom Horton, Marco van Staden, Jaco Taute are out.

Api Ratuniyarawa, Isaac Miller, Danilo Fischetti, Luca Morisi, Joe Powell, Albert Tuisue, Terrence Hepetema, Steve Mafi, George Nott, Phil Cokanasiga, Olly Cracknell, Allan Dell, Nick Phipps, Sean O’Brien have been released.

Newcastle finished 12th last season. Tian Schoeman, Matias Moroni, Josh Thomas, Sebastian de Chaves, Joel Hodgson, Mike Brown, Luther Burrell, Kyle Cooper, Ollie Lindsay-Hague have been released.

Northampton finished 4th last season. Callum Braley, Ethan Waller, Angus Scott-Young, Aaron Hinkley, Alfie Petch, Piers Francis, JJ Tonks, Nick Auterac, Api Ratuniyarawa, Taqele Naiyaravoro, Tom Wood are out.

Sale Sharks finished 6th last season. George Ford, Jonny Hill, Tom O'Flaherty, Jason Woodward, AJ MacGinty, JP du Preez, Curtis Langdon, Cameron Neild, Rohan Janse van Rensburg, Lood de Jager, Jamie Macginti, and Simon Hammersley are out.

Saracens finished runners-up last season. New players in are Hugh Tizard, Christian Judge, Eduardo Bello, James Flynn, Richard Barrington, Elliott Obatoyinbo, Tim Swinson and Vincent Koch.

Wasps finished 9th last season. Vincent Koch, John Ryan, Will Haydon-Wood, Burger Odendaal, Kiran McDonald, Vaea Fifita, Malakai Fekitoa, Jeff Toomaga-Allen, Michael Le Bourgeois, Marcus Watson, Pieter Scholtz, James Gaskell, Rob Miller have been released.

Worcester finished 11th last season. Curtis Langdon, Cameron Neild, Fergus Lee-Warner, Santiago Medrano, Hame Faiva, Valery Morozov, Renato Giammarioli, Ethan Waller, Niall Annett, Sione Vailanu, Christian Judge, Isaac Miller, Melani Nanai, Sam Lewis and Matt Garvey are out.
