Game Day: Breeders’ Cup is their top pick

Game Day is a Q&A with horse racing writer Art Wilson and handicapper Bob Mieszerski about this week's Breeders’ Cup.

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be held Friday and Saturday at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky. Southern California-based Flightline is an odds-on favorite in the main event, the $6 million Breeder's Cup Classic for older horses. Bob Mieszerski and Art Wilson have been paying attention to the BreedERS' Cup since it debuted in 1984 at the late, great Hollywood Park. They consider the event to be the sport at its best.

Flightline is the favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. He won the Pacific Classic last year. Flightline has only raced five times since April of last season. His main competition will come from Epicenter and Taiba. Art considers Flightlin one of the four best thoroughbreds of his lifetime. . Game Day is their top pick. They pick the winner.

Game Day and Art have been following the Breeders’ Cup since it started in 1984. Art considers it the Super Bowl of horse racing. Bob prefers the original one-day event. The BC is now a two- day event, because it costs more.

Bob recommends watching videos of all the competitors and finding useful bets. Art recommends picking horses that finished in the top three in their final prep race. Comanche Country is a Friday longshot, but she is 3-for-3 in U.S. and has a potent combination of trainer and rider. Law Professor is at his best on the main track and he could be an upset winner in Saturday's Dirt Mile. Elite Power is making his Grade I debut and is 6-1. He has won four in a row for Bill Mott and continues to improve. Jackie’s Warrior is favored in this race last year.

Art and Bob are betting on horse racing on Friday and Saturday. Art is proud of his early pick-five bet in 2013 at Santa Anita. Bob won big money on Cat Thief and Is It True.
